The James Whitcomb Riley Festival Association recognized the need for additional financial support of the arts in public schools and is pleased to announce this grant program to further the visual and performing arts in Hancock County schools. The Riley Festival presents opportunities for people of all ages to exhibit or demonstrate their artistic talents through several events held during our annual celebration of the birth of James Whitcomb Riley, “ The Hoosier Poet.” Through this partnership program, educators will be able to maintain or expand existing programs or develop new approaches to increase the artistic talents, interest in or knowledge of the arts of their students. Programs funded may include, but are not limited to, the graphic arts, drama, music, and resource materials for libraries. A maximum of $500.00 will be awarded to approved grant applicants.
The following criteria will be used to evaluate the merits of each proposal:
- Number of students impacted
- Program objectives
- Whether the grant supports a new or existing program
- Institutions must be located in Hancock County
If this grant is for a program to be held at more than one school (a multi-school grant request), please submit one application only. The individual schools and contacts must be listed on the application as indicated. Please indicate if the grant may be awarded for all schools or if it should be divided equally between all schools.
Persons receiving grants will be expected to mention the Riley Festival Educational Arts Partnership in any publicity concerning their program and be willing to make a presentation about their program at a Riley Festival Board meeting.
Applications must be received by September 1, 2018. Grant applications will be reviewed and funds will begin being awarded during the Riley Festival, October 4-7, 2018. Applications received after this date may be considered on a “funds available” basis. Applications are to be
