2014 – The Festival greeted two new members to the Board of Directors: Steve Miller, a member at large and Judy Swift from the City Council. We also said good-by to 2 long time Board Members who retired after many years on the Board – Sarah Kesterson and Greg Carwein.
Hannah Payne from New Palestine High School was the scholarship winner.
Markus Dennis a alumni of Greenfield-Central High School called to offer volunteers for the Riley Festival. He has started a club for the alumni of GCHS called the Riley Club and they want to help with the Festival. Several members volunteered their time helping out during the Festival.
Kylee Stewart, a sophomore at IUPUI was crowned the 2014 Riley Festival Queen. During the pageant our sponsor Keihin was honored for being our Pageant sponsor for 25 years. Kylee had chosen to help the homeless at the Kenneth Butler Soup Kitchen with a coat drive. She was able to collect lots of coats to help keep the homeless warm.
Randy Ollis, WISH-TV weatherman was the featured speaker at the Mayor’s Breakfast. The name for the Breakfast was changed back to the Mayor’s Breakfast. Randy was also the Grand Marshal for the Ameriana Bank Parade. The Breakfast was held at the Trinity Park United Methodist Church this year.
The Riley Run was cancelled this year because of some changes that needed to be made to the Run.
Poppy Pucillo was crowned Little Miss Riley and Jonny Massy was crowned Little Mr. Riley.
This year we downsized the Entertainment Tent and it was an all white tent. We received many positive comments about the change.
Tom Beagle retired from the Board at the end of the year. Tom had served on the Board for 11 year and has been a part of the Children’s Parade of Flowers for 49 years and counting. We added Markus Dennis as a Board member for 2015.
This year we had a Talent Contest on Friday evening. The event proved to be very popular.
