1990 – Jon Kindred, field director for the James Whitcomb Riley Memorial Association was the keynote speaker for the Mayor’s Breakfast. Tickets were $6.50 each. John Trout of radio station WZPL-FM was the parade marshal. The theme for the 1990 Festival was “The Old Swimmin” Hole”. Sherry Sellmeyer was chosen Queen of the 1990 Riley Festival.
Members of the Board of Directors were: J. B. Stephens, Chairman; Robert Strickland, Melva Jackson, Harry Tracy, Sarah Kesterson, Ann Skvarenina, Elly Myers, Fred Keen, General Chairman; Rick Reigle, Dr. John Long, Robert Eagleston, Sarah Wolf, Myra Maxwell and Nancy Alldredge, Secretary. The Riley Festival erected a new storage building.
1991 – “The Man In The Moon” was the theme for this year’s Festival. Nan Hendrickson entertained the Mayor’s Breakfast guests. Over 314 vendors set up for the Festival. Strong storms came through early Saturday and toppled several tents, but everyone picked up and continued on.
Amy Allor was crowned the Queen of the 1991 Riley Festival.
1992 – Jon Kindred, field director of the James Whitcomb Riley Memorial Association was the featured speaker at the Mayor’s Breakfast. Tickets for the event sold for $7.50. A new event was planned for the opening of the 1992 Festival. A pig roast and square dancing were sponsored by the Greenfield Banking Company. Tickets were $5.50. Also Bobby Hitt a Nashville recording artist performed.
Brenda VanSickle was crowned Queen of the 1992 Riley Festival. The theme for the year was “The Days Gone By”. This year the Festival went from a 3 day event to 4 days and the Ducky Derby sponsored by the Mental Health was started.
J.B. Stephens retired as chairman of the Riley Board of Directors at the end of 1992 and Robert Strickland retired as treasurer. Fred Keen will be the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
1993 – Jamie Lantz was the 1993 Riley Festival Queen. Opening the Festival this year was a pig roast and line dancing sponsored by the Greenfield Banking Company with tickets for $6.00. Jim Kesterson, General Chairman and Fred Keen Chairman of the Board of Directors welcomed everyone. The theme was “The Little Red Apple Tree”
Members of the Board of Directors were: Fred Keen, Sarah Kesterson, Bonnie Andrews, Don Jenkins, Myra Maxwell, Betty Wright, Harry Tracy, Steve Kirkpatrick, Gene Addison, Nancy Broady, Melva Jackson, Nancy Alldredge and Wes Blue.
Lieutenant Governor Frank O’Bannon was the keynote speaker for the Mayor’s Breakfast. Tickets sold for $7.50 each.
